Arlene Schnitzer (January 10, 1929 – April 4, 2020)

April 4, 2020

OJMCHE expresses our sorrow at the passing of Arlene Schnitzer, one of the most recognizable and celebrated names in Oregon. We know the name well as it graces the bright lights of Portland’s Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Arlene Schnitzer was a leading philanthropist, a supporter of the arts, and a civic leader who cared deeply about social issues. Her vision, dedication and artistic acumen was first evidenced in the Fountain Gallery, which she founded in Portland in 1961 to provide exhibition space and sales opportunities for local artists. Our condolences to her son Jordan Schnitzer and family.⁣
