Exhibit Docent Program
Over the past five years, docents and volunteer educators have helped share OJMCHE exhibit content with tens of thousands of visitors. In spring 2017, the OJMCHE Education department recruited a one-year cohort of docents to help share museum content with visitors in our new, permanent location in the Pearl. OJMCHE is currently recruiting docents for our second annual cohort. Applications are available below. Completed applications must be received by Monday, February 26th, 2018 to be considered for the program. Following the application, OJMCHE staff will meet for a brief interview with applicants before the beginning of the training.
New docent training for this group will begin in April and will consist of six, two-hour trainings over the course of April, May, and June, with the goal that new docents will be ready to lead tours in July. Trainings will take place from 5:30-7:30pm at OJMCHE. Following this three-month training period, all docents will be expected to attend one, two-hour training per month plus commit about five hours of docenting per month. New docents will join current docents who choose to stay involved with the program for a second year.
More details on the docent program can be found in our application packet below.
