Eye to Eye: Photographs from the Portland Jazz Festival captures images from eight years of Portland’s preeminent jazz festival. Comprised of black and white silver prints, Bruce Polonsky’s photographs provide visual reference to the essential energy and deep spirit of jazz performance. The exhibit includes images of such jazz greats as Joshua Redman, capturing the spontaneity, craftsmanship and ardor that defines them as consummate musicians.

Born and raised in Northern California, Polonsky began taking photos as an eight year old. Many of his images were featured in the PBS/Ken Burns documentary Jazz, and have also appeared in a wide variety of albums, books and other publications since the mid 1970s. Polonsky has lived in Portland since 1995.
