In Effigies, an ink-drawn artist book, Sarah Horowitz creates a dialog between language and image, and between her Jewish heritage and her life as a book artist. Drawing inspiration from a Paul Auster poem, the book expresses Horowitz’s process of learning to understand her ancestors’ story as her own.  Effigies reminds us that remembering and understanding our history is critical to finding balance in the world.
