Volunteer

Volunteers are an integral part of the OJMCHE team, serving as ambassadors to the community. Volunteers are involved in dynamic and engaging opportunities, including:

Visitor Experience volunteers work with the public. They greet and direct visitors, sell admission tickets and memberships, and help in the museum shop. For information on becoming an OJMCHE Visitor Experience volunteer, please contact Irene Foster at ifoster@ojmche.org.

Collections and Archives volunteers assist in working with the photograph and document collections, cataloging and processing incoming materials from families and organizations. We are currently not looking for Collections and Archives volunteers.

Public Engagement volunteers work at museum programs and events, which typically take place on weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons. They greet and direct visitors, check-in and sell event tickets, and help with various event tasks. They may also help to represent the museum at community events. For information on becoming an OJMCHE Public Engagement volunteer, please contact programs@ojmche.org

The museum’s Speakers’ Bureau serves to preserve the memories of local survivors of the Holocaust, contemporary genocides, and mass violence and provide educators and organizations opportunities to discuss and honor survivors’ cultural legacies. Through oral histories of local survivors, liberators, resisters, witnesses, refugees, and their families, we seek to further awareness of genocide and hate crimes in our own communities and around the world. Please contact Heidi Kaufman at hkaufman@ojmche.org for information about the Speakers’ Bureau application process.
