Film screening of Remember This for International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Discussion following the film with Clark Young and Adrian Chrobot

Please join us for a film screening of Remember This, followed by a discussion with the film’s co-writer Clark Young and Political Counselor, Embassy of the Republic of Poland, Adrian Chrobot. The film portrays the true story of Jan Karski, a reluctant Second World War hero and the first eyewitness to report of war-torn Poland to the Western world. The performance captures the complexity and legacy of this self-described “insignificant, little man” whose timely story of moral courage and individual responsibility can still shake the conscience of the world.

This program is funded by a generous bequest from Herbert and Ella Ostroff in commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The day marks 77 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and is a time to remember the atrocities of the Second World War, honor the survivors, and challenge ourselves to use the lessons of their experience to inform our lives today.

Speakers

Clark Young is a writer and teacher who lives in Brooklyn, NY. He is the co-creator of the play Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski with Derek Goldman and David Strathairn, which has been performed all over the country and the world. The feature film adaptation Remember This premiered in theaters across the United States and on PBS Great Performances.

Adrian Chrobot currently serves as Political Counsellor, Jewish Affairs in the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington. Previously, he served as the Head of the Political and Economic Section at the Polish Embassy in Havana (2015-21) and worked for the Polish Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels in the Justice and Home Affairs Department (2010-14).
