Free Family Movie Night – The Sound of Music Sing-Along Under the Stars


PORTLAND, OR (June 24, 2025) – The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education (OJMCHE) invites families, friends, and film lovers of all ages to a joyful rooftop celebration of one of the most beloved musicals of all time: The Sound of Music. On Saturday, July 26, the Museum’s Park Blocks rooftop will come alive with the timeless melodies of Rodgers and Hammerstein as guests join in a special interactive sing-along screening of the five-time Academy Award-winning film. With breathtaking alpine visuals, an inspiring true story, and an unforgettable score—from “Do-Re-Mi” to “My Favorite Things”—The Sound of Music continues to unite generations through music, resilience, and joy.

This all-ages event is free to attend, but RSVP is required and space is limited. At 174 minutes, this is an epic cinematic evening—so come comfy! Attendees are encouraged to wear their pajamas, bring a blanket, pillow, camp chair, or beanbag, and settle in for a night of song and community under the summer sky. Complimentary snacks, candy, and beverages will be available throughout the evening.

As a backdrop for this special screening, the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education offers a rich and welcoming space. Museum staff will be available to answer questions or share more about the core exhibitions that explore Jewish life, human rights, and the legacy of the Holocaust.

The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education explores the legacy of the Jewish experience in Oregon, teaches the enduring and universal relevance of the Holocaust, and provides opportunities for intercultural conversations. The main and east galleries, on the first floor, feature rotating exhibitions of national and international stature, while four core exhibits anchor programming:
